Biarritz

After a week of zooming around the UK visiting family and friends, I find myself on a Biarritz balcony, sipping a coffee and contemplating the days ahead.

I’ve had one last night in a bedroom with only one bed in it – it’s going to be a much more communal experience from now on.

I’ve had one last touristy type meal and one last look at the sea for a while.

The rucksack has been packed, repacked and packed again, but I’m sure it’s going to get even lighter still as I start actually walking somewhere with it.

The Factor 50 is applied, the hat is ready to go on the head, the feet are cleaned, the fresh socks are lying next to the boots.

It’s time to ascend into the Pyrenees.
